45-km tailback on Dhaka-Ctg highway

A 45-km tailback was created on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway following a head-on collision between a truck and a covered van near Nuritala Bazar in Chandina upazila on Friday, inflicting sufferings on thousands of passengers. Sergeant M Hasanuzzaman Hasan of Eliotganj Highway Police outpost said the highway was blocked after the collision between the two vehicles in the early hours.
The accident disrupted traffic on the highway for about five hours, creating the 45-km traffic gridlock from Paduar Bazar Biswa Road in Sadar upazila to Raipur in Daudkandi.
Although the traffic resumed around 10am after the accident-ridden truck and covered van were removed, the situation became normal at about 3pm due to pressure of huge vehicles on the highway.
