KHULNA, November 22, (2013) (BSS) – At least 48 leaders of
Awami League (AL) and its front organizations Jubo League and
women AL bought nomination papers from AL central office in the
capital to seek AL tickets to contest in the coming parliamentary
elections in six constituencies in Khulna city and district.
Several fresh and young AL, Jubo League leaders are among the
nomination seekers. Most of them have started informal campaign
in their respective constituencies.
Those who have bought nomination papers are; Khulna-1
(Batiaghata an Dakop upazila), incumbent lawmaker Nani Gopal
Mondol and incumbent lawmaker from women reserved seat Begum Noor
Afroz Ali, ex-lawmakers Panchanon Biswas and Sheikh Harun-ur-
Rashid, central AL leader Asit Baron Biswas, UP chairman of
Batiaghata Upazila Md. Ashraful Alam Khan, UP chairman and vice-
chairman of Dakop upazila Abul Hossain and Joyanti Rani Sarder,
vice president of Dakop upazila unit AL Binoy Krisna Roy, Mayor
of Chalna Pourashabha Dr. Achinta Kumar Mondol and advocate Nimai
Chandra Roy. Khulna-2 ( Sadar and Sonadanga thana)- AL city unit
general secretary Mizanur Rahman Mizan, incumbent law maker from
women reserved seat Begum Noor Afroz Ali, Khulna district unit
joint secretary Dr. Shekh Baharul Alam, AL Sadar thana unit
general secretary advocate Saiful Islam and Jubo League city unit
convenor advocate Anisur Rahman Poplu.
In the last parliamentary election Mizanur Rahman Mizan was
defeated by BNP candidate Nazrul Islam Monzu by 1500 votes.

his wife Eva Rahman, Chairman of Terokhada upazila Sarfuddin
Biswas Bachchu, Chairman of Rupsha upazila Sheikh Ali Akbor,
president, district unit of Jubo League Md. Quamruzzaman Zamal
and vice president of central Prajonmo League major (retd) Md.
Modasser Hossain.
Khulna-5 (Dumuria and Phultala upazila) incumbent lawmaker
Naryan Chandra Chanda, Chairman of Dumuria upazila Gazi Abdul
