5 arrested with Yaba, ganja in Rangpur

A mobile court and police in separate raids seized huge quantity of contraband Yaba tablets and ganja and arrested five drug traders from different places here last evening, police sources said. A mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Ashraful Siddik seized 1,034 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets and arrested four persons from the house of one Masud Rana Titu in Honumantola area in the city last evening. The arrested drug traders are Masud Rana Titu, 45, his wife Shahanaz Begum, 35, Shujan, 25, son of Rezaul Haque of village Dharonda under Hakimpur upazila in Dinajpur and Habibur Rahman, 40, son of Moslem Uddin of village Dighirpar under Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj. Inspector Anwarul Habib of the District Narcotics Control Department and members of police forces were present during the raid. On the other hand, Kawnia Thana police conducted a sudden raid at Mirbag bus stand on the Kurigram-Rangpur highway under Kawnia upazila and challenged a Dhaka bound Fahim Mitali Coach from Kurigram there.After searching the coach, police seized 30 kilogram smuggled ganja and arrested drug trader Litan Mian, 28, son of Anwar Hossain of village Shibpur in Tangail district red-handed from the coach. Separate cases have been filed against the arrested persons with the concerned police stations, the sources said. -BSS, Rangpur
