At least five houses were gutted by a fire that broke out at East Bolirhat under Bakolia Police Station in the city early Monday.
Fire Service officials said the fire erupted from a house in the area around 3:05am and it soon engulfed four other adjacent houses.On information, five firefighting units from Balirhat and Chandanpura rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one hour of frantic efforts.The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.The extent of losses from the fire was estimated at Tk 50 lakh. -UNB, Chittagong
