5 killed in United Hospital fire

At least five people were killed in a fire at the city’s United Hospital on Wednesday night, a fire service official said. “We’re recovered five bodies,” Kamrul Islam, duty officer of fire service control room, said.
The fire broke out at the corona ward around 9:55 pm and was extinguished around 10:25 pm.
Three firefighting units were working at the site.
Kamrul said they initially suspect an AC explosion caused the fire.
Police’s Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan Division Sudip Kumar told reporters that there were casualties but they were not sure about the death toll.
In February last year, a fire broke out at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. The fire reportedly originated at a storeroom on the first floor of a new building of the hospital, reports UNB.
