At least five activists of Jamaat’s student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir sustained bullet injuries in a clash with police in Manohorpur area of the city on Monday morning.
Witnesses said the clash broke out in the area at about 10:15am when police obstructed a procession brought out by Shibir men.
Shibir activists brought out the procession from Kandirpar area in the morning as part of their central programme.
When they reached Manohorpur area, police chased off the Shibir men dispersing their procession and a clash ensued.
The Shibir activists started hurling brick chips at the law enforcers.
At one stage, the law enforcers lobbed teargas shells and fired rubber bullets on the Shibir men, leaving five activists injured.
