50 injured in 2 B’baria clashes

At least 50 people were injured in two separate clashes in Brahmanbaria on Thursday.
Police brought the situation under control by lobbing teargas canisters and firing rubber bullets.  At Vuishor village in Sarail upazila, followers of rivals Faijullah and Hebju Mia locked in a clash over watering arable land.   They used sharp weapons.Informed, police reached the spot and fired 22 rounds of rubber bullets and lobbed five rounds of teargas shells to disperse the two groups.Sarail Police Station officer-in-charge Ali Arshad said six people were held from the scene.Meanwhile, at Khariala village of Ashuganj, followers of Gafur Mia and Mizan Mia clashed using sharp local weapons over the possession of a piece of land.At least 20 people were injured in the hour-long clash.   Of the injured, eight were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospial while the others given first aid.Ashuganj Police Station officer-in-charge Gholam Faruk said the law enforcers quelled the unrest and additional policemen were deployed in the area to avoid any unwanted incident. -UNB, Brahmanbaria
