50-member Bd Army delegation on week-long tour of India

Dhaka, Nov 26 – A 50-member delegation of Bangladesh Army is now on a week-long tour to India in continuation of high-level defence cooperation between Armed Forces of Bangladesh and India. The delegation will visit Delhi, Agra, Kolkata and Churulia- the birthplace of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
This is a significant milestone in the history of bilateral relations as this is first of its kind visit wherein 25 mid-level officers of Bangladesh Army, each accompanied by their spouses, are visiting India (Nov 26 to Dec 2), said the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Monday.
The visit began on Monday in the most befitting manner as two Indian Air forces aircraft airlifted the entire delegation from Dhaka to Delhi, said the High Commission.
The delegation will travel in the specially designated Indian Airforce aircraft for the complete duration of the visit concluding in Dhaka on December 2.
The visit was suggested by the Bangladesh Army Chief during a meeting with Indian Army Chief during his first visit and was promptly agreed to by the Indian government.
The visit is aimed to enhance people-to-people in the background of enriched common cultural heritage. – UNB
