500,000 improved cooking stoves installed in B’desh

German Development Cooperation and the Department of Environment on Sunday celebrated theuhrawardy success of installing 500,000 Bondhu Chulas (Improved Cooking Stoves) all over Bangladesh. Both the organisations arranged a rally and discussion programme in the capital marking the successful installation of the improved cooking stoves) in the country. The rally started from the Central Shaheed Minar in the morning and ended at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium where the discussion session was held, said a German Embassy press release. Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju was present. In 2012, Bangladesh Climate Change Trust, Department of Environment and GIZ jointly undertook the project, ‘Market Development Initiative for Bondhu Chula’, aiming to install 500,000 stoves throughout Bangladesh. – UNB
