A devastating fire gutted 58 tin-shed houses near Rony Market in the city’s Kamrangirchar area on Saturday afternoon. Abdus Samad Azad, an operator of the fire service headquarters, said the fire originated from the kitchen of one of the houses in Kathpatti area around 2 pm, and burned down 58 houses of the area. Five firefighting units rushed to the spot and put out the blaze around 4:10pm. Fire service source said the extent of loss caused by the fire was estimated at Tk 40 lakh. However, there was no report of casualty. – UNB
