5th Convocation of Uttara University held

Dhaka – Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, Honorable Education Minister, Ministry of Education, Bangladesh said that along with ensuring the education for all, we have to concentrate on the development of Human Development Index (HDI). He also emphasized that the practice of research must be ensured by extending the research opportunity in Universities.In his speech, Nurul Islam Nahid said that the students have to be devoted towards the overall development of their country. The special guest Professor Abdul Mannan, honorable Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) said that we need to provide the real history of liberation war to the new generation and none can erase the true history of liberation war of Bangladesh through violence.
The Convocation Speaker Dr. Anisuzzaman, Professor Emeritus, University of Dhaka has expressed that to achieve higher education is a public right-is an absurd idea. The public right is to achieve primary education where higher education is for the talented students. Without having any talent and qualification, the ambition of taking higher education is nothing but embarrassing. He said that the general demand of receiving higher education is less. He also said to the graduating students to keep themselves ready to learn forever, be rational and devotedly do the duties and responsibilities to their own country. He suggested them to remember that they are the world citizens and they all are sisters and brothers.
The Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University Prof. Dr. M. Azizur Rahman said to the graduating students that the knowledge they acquired will be for the betterment of their country. It is their duty to make a hunger free and poverty free country. It is his firm belief that they will be motivated by their sincerity, empathy, respect to the best creation and patriotism.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha said to the awarded students that through hard work, skill, sincerity, creativity, concentration and honesty, they will play the pioneer role in building a prosperous Bangladesh in future. She also said that during studying at Uttara University they have devoted themselves towards freedom of thought and practice of culture. She hopes that they will be continuing the same in the future and they will establish a bridge of culture.
Prominent academicians, Vice-Chancellors from different universities and different well-known businessmen were also present in the program. Moreover, respected Treasurer Professor Mumtaz Begum, Registrar, Kazi Mahiuddin, Controller of Exam Prof. A K M Mozzammel Haque and the distinguished Deans, Chairpersons, Heads of Departments and faculty members along with the concerned officers and staffs of Uttara University have also taken part in the ceremony.
A captivating cultural program was held by the participation of the members of the cultural club of Uttara University.
