A 3-day long debate competition titled “5th national debate championship-2016” began at Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on Thursday.
Securing slogan ‘Droher Prodip Jhole Uthuk Sokol Manob Mondire’, the Debating Society of Economics (DSE) in association with Jahangirnagar University Debate Organisation (JUDO) organised the debate fest.
Around 3.30 pm, Rafiqul Islam, convener and organizing secretary of DSE disclosed the event at a press conference at the office of JU journalist’s Association (JUJA).
Prof. Nurul Haque, Chairman of Economics department inaugurated the fest at seminar room of Zahir Raihan Auditorium.
A total of 32 clubs of different Universities across the country took part the events while 6 club from JU attended the programme said Eshrat Sharmin Sharna, President of DSE.
Ahead of debate fest DSE chalked out an elaborate programme including rally, press conference, parliamentary debate and Barwary debate, multimedia presentation etc.
The finale debate contest will held at the Selim Al Deen Muktamancha while JU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Farzana Islam as expected chief guest and JU pro-VC Prof. Abul Hossain and Treasurer Prof. Abul Khair will present the event.
Shaheen Reza, general secretary of JUDO, Shawn Ahmed, joint secretary of DSE, Mushfiqus Salehin Mim, event secretary of DSE, Biplob Hossain, publicity and publication secretary were present the press conference among others. – JU Correspondent
