A young girl and a child were killed and 22 others injured in a road accident at Iqbal
Nagar in the municipality area of the district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased girl was identified as Tahmina, 18, of Joyoshree village of Dharmapasha
upazila, while identity of the child could not be known immediately.
Witnesses said a Sylhet-bound bus fell into a roadside ditch in the area when its driver
lost control over the steering in the morning, leaving two people dead on the spot and 22
others injured.
The injured were admitted to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.
Another reports adds: A police sub-inspector was killed in a road accident in Bhairab
Bazar area of Srimangal upazila on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Santosh Kumar Dutt, 30, a sub-inspector (SI) of Habiganj
sadar police station and son of Mahadev Dutt of Chaitraghat village in Kamalganj upazila
of Moulvibazar district.
Police said a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a motorcycle Santosh was
riding around 11.00am, leaving him critically injured.
Later, locals whisked Santosh away to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where he
succumbed to his injuries around 2.00pm.
Additional superintendent of police Md Nurul Islam of the district confirmed the death of
SI Santosh Kumar Dutt in the road accident.
UNB from Kushtia says: Two people were killed in a road accident at Ranakharia on the
Kushtia-Pabna Highway in Mirpur upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Khokon, 35, truck driver of BRB Group of Industries,
and its operator Rana, 34.
Mujibor Rahman, sub-inspector of Kushtia highway police, said a Jhenidah-bound truck
knocked down Khokon and Rana from behind while they were repairing their truck in the
area early in the morning,leaving them dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for
autopsy.
A case was filed.
UNB from Faridpur adds: A traffic police constable was crushed to death by a speeding
bus at Chaurasta intersection in Bhanga upazila of the district on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Jafor, 45.
Officer-in-charge of Bhanga Police Station Dadon Fakir said a rashly driven bus of
Ajmeri Paribahan ran over Jafor at the intersection around 8.00pm on the way to his
workplace on the Bhanga highway, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared him
dead.
The body was recovered and sent to the district hospital morgue for autopsy. –Our
