Ruder case file submission date fixed on 16

The Divisional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday (Monday)fixed June 16 for submission of the arguments in the case filed against Jatiya Party Chairman and Prime Minister’s Special Envoy HM Ershad and others for corruption in connection with the purchase of ruder for Bangladesh Air Force (BAF).

Judge Kamrul Hasan Mollah of the set the new date. Other accused persons in the case are Momtaj Uddin Ahmed, former Assistant chief of BAF, former BAF Chief Sultan Mahmud and Director of United Traders AKM Musa. He is on the run since the beginning of the case.

The then Bureau of Anti Corruption filed the case on May 4, 1992. The accused have been charged of incurring a loss of Tk 64 crore four lakh 42 thousand 918 to the national exchequer in purchasing ruder for BAF from USA instead of France.
