7.56-lakh tonne Boro rice expected to be produced in Bogra

Plantation of boro seedlings is near about completion in the district aimed to produce over seven lakh tonnes of rice in the current Robi season in the district.Department of Agriculture and Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of 19,2247 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation in 12 upazilas of the district to produce 7.56 tonnes of rice.Of the total, some 10,495 hectares of land in Bogra Sadar upazila, 13,520 in Sahajahanpur upazila, 20,590 in Sherpur upazila, 17,450 in Dhunat upazila, 18,510 in Gabtali upazila, 14,345 in Sariakandi upazila, 11,340 in Sonatala upazila, 21,417 in Shibganj upazila, 18,160 in Kahaloo upazila, 13,100 in Dupchachia upazila, 12,650 in Adamdighi upazila and 20,670 hectares in Nandigram upazila.Deputy Director of DAE Bazlur Rashid said necessary measures had been taken to supply necessary fertilisers, insecticides, electricity and other agri inputs to the farmers at fair prices to make the cultivation a grand success in the district during the current season. -BSS, Bogra
