74 opposition men held in 6 dists

Dhaka – Law enforcers in their drives arrested 74 opposition activists from separate places in six districts from Thursday night to Friday
afternoon. The districts are Bogra, Chittagong, Bagerhat, Sherpur, Panchagarh and Sylhet.
In Bogra, police arrested over 50 people suspecting them to be activists of BNP-Jamaat from different places of Gabtali upazila on
Thursday night.
In Chittagong, police arrested 16 activists of BNP and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from different places of Fatikchhari upazila on
Thursday night.
Officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari Police Station M Shahjahan Bhuiyan said the opposition men were arrested for their involvement in
vandalism and subversive activities.
In Panchagarh, police arrested four BNP and Jamaat activists from separate places of Debiganj upazila on Thursday midnight on charge of
vandalising the houses belonging to Awami League leaders and Hindu community members.
In Sherpur, two Jamaat activists were arrested from Poragarh area of Sribardi upazila on Thursday and Friday afternoon for cutting tendons
of local Awami League leader Billal.
In Bagerhat, police arrested a local leader of Jamaat from Kachubunia village in Morelganj upazila early Friday for his suspecting
involvement in torching two temples on Wednesday night.
In Sylhet, police arrested Anhar Ahmed, 40, secretary of Osmaninagar thana unit of Jamaat from Goalabazar area on Friday afternoon. – UNB
