Chittagong district police in a series of drives detained eight activists of BNP-Jamaat-Shibir from different upazilas of the district on Thursday night.Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district said police held eight activists in overnight raids at various places of Sitakunda, Satkhania and Lohagara upazilas on Thursday night.Among the detainees, three were Jamaat activists, two Islami Chhatra Shibir activists and three BNP activists, the police officer said adding that they were detained to prevent possible acts of sabotage during country-wide blockade and hartal called by BNP-led 20 party alliance.CHITTAGONG, Fe. 13 (BSS)
