8 burn to death in Sirajganj road crash

Sirajganj – Eight people were burnt to death as two vehicles caught fire following a road accident at Konabari in Kamarkhand upazila on Thursday night.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.Officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station AKM Aminul Islam said a Dhaka-bound vegetables-laden truck from Bogra collided head-on with another truck carrying poultry feed on the No 6 Bridge on the west side connecting road of the Bangabandhu Bridge around 8:45pm.
Soon a microbus and a private car crashed into an accident-ridden truck from behind due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. After the collisions, the microbus and the private car went up in flames while the two trucks fell into the roadside ditch.
Five passengers of the microbus and others of the car were burnt alive on the spot. The vehicles were also burnt to cinders before firefighters reached the spot.
Later, police recovered the charred bodies from inside the two vehicles. Five occupants of the two trucks were also injured in the accident. – UNB
