8 burnt in suburban Demra domestic gas line blast

Dhaka, Oct 23 – Domestic gas line explosion injured eight people, including two minor boys, of a family at a house on Alamin Road in Konapara area in the suburban Demra area of BD capital Dhaka early Monday.The injured were identified as Arif, 35, Ratna Begum, 18, Shipon, 7, Emon, 18, Ferdousi, 35, Tofazzal, 22, Tasim, 2, and Alamgir, 40.
Rasel Sikder, the duty officer of Fire Service Control Room, said the gas line went off in the kitchen on the top floor of a two-storey building early morning as there was a leak in the gas pipeline, leaving the eight people injured.
Later, the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 4:00 am, said Bachchu Miah, in-charge of the hospital’s police camp.
Of the injured, Ranta has been suffering from 45 percent burn injuries while Shipon and Arif with 20 and 15 percent injuries respectively.
The rest of them are suffering from 4 to 9 percent burn injuries. – UNB
