Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued eight people, including a woman, from Putkhali border area in Benapole town while they were being trafficked to India on Sunday night.
Lieutenant Colonel Taef Ul Haque, director of BGB battalion 23, said being tipped off, they conducted a drive in the area around 8.00pm and rescued the eight people.However, human traffickers fled the scene after sensing the presence of BGB team.The rescued, hailing from different areas of Khulna, Narail and Bagerhat districts, were handed over to Benapole port police station.
