97.59 pc pass PEC, 97.69 pc Ebtedayee exam

More than 97 percent students have cleared this year’s Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee examinations.

The results, published on Monday, showed a 97.59 percent pass rate among PEC candidates. Ebtedayee examinees did slightly better – in terms of percentage – with 97.69 percent of them clearing the tests.Among PEC examinees, 3,68,193 secured GPA 5 while 12,264 Ebtedayee students obtained the highest grade, Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman announced at a press briefing at the secretariat.

This year, 26,52,896 students appeared in PEC and 25,88,904 among them passed it. The successful candidates include 14,07,885 girls and 11,81,019 boys. Among the GPA 5 achievers, there were 2,06,782 girls.The Dhaka Education Board had the highest pass rate of 98.25 percent. This year’s PEC exams were held between November 18 and November 26.

In Ebtedayee, 2,68,557 candidates, out of 2,74,907 examinees, came out successful. Among them, 12,264 scored GPA 5. The Rajshahi Board secured the top position in terms of pass rate in Ebtedayee with 98.88 percent successful candidates.Minister Mostafizur handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban in the morning.

The results can be obtained from website of the Directorate of Education www.dpe.gov.bd or http://dpe.teletalk.com.bd. They can also be known through SMS. For PEC result, one has to type DPE, input the student ID and send it to 16222. For Ebtedayee, replace DPE with EBT in the SMS.
