Dhaka – Police in Chandpur have said that two suspected robbers have been killed during a raid early on Wednesday, bdnews24.com reported on Wednesday.Victims Mujibur Rahman, 57, and Habib Ullah, 35, were shot dead in what is being claimed as a ‘shootout between robbers and police’ at the district’s North Matlab Upazila.
“Police conducted a raid on a tip-off at the Dubgu area, when a shootout erupted with the robbers. The two died on the spot,” said North Matlab police OC Syed Alamgir Hossain.
Police said they have found some sharp weapons on the spot.
Rahman was accused in at least six cases, including for murder and robbery while Ullah was wanted in five robbery cases, said OC Hossain.
He said a police sub-inspector and two constables were injured in the encounter and received first aid treatment. – Agency
