Sunamganj clash leaves teenager dead

Dhaka – A teenage boy was killed and at least 50 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Srihail village in Shalla upazila on Friday afternoon.The deceased was identified as Md Sajal Miah, 18, son of late Abdul Alim of the village.Md Bazlar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Shalla Police Station, said there had been a longstanding dispute between Arup Miah, son of former chairman of Sadar union parishad Oliur Rahman, and Md Dalim Miah of the village over several issues, including union parishad election and a water body and land. Following the issues, the two groups locked into a fierce clash around 3:15pm when a chase and counter-chase took place, leaving over 50 people, including Sajal, injured.Critically injured Sajal, a supporter of Dalim Group, was taken to Shalla Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control.UNB
