A Madrasha girl, who was set on fire by some local eve teasers in
Fulgazi upazila on June 16, died from burn injuries at Dhaka Medical
College Hospital early Saturday.The victim was Aklima Akhter,15, a class VIII student of Fulgazi Darul
Ulum Dakhil Madrasha and daughter of Mohammad Shafiq of Daulatpur
village of the upazila.
Locals said Sumon used to stalk Aklima on her way to Madrasha and gave
proposal for marriage.
As she refused to marry him Sumon along with his two friends-Kamal and
Shanto-of the same village picked up Aklima when she went out of her
house to respond to natural call at about 3.30am on June 16.
They set fire to her body by pouring kerosene in a bid to kill her.
Hearing her scream, her family members and neighbours rescued Aklima
and admitted her to Phulgazi Upazila Health Complex first and later
shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as her condition
deteriorated.
Aklima succumbed to her burn injuries at DMCH burn unit early Saturday.
M. Asad, brother of the victim, filed a case against the trio with
Fulgazi police station.
