Supreme Court Bar Association election ends

Dhaka – A two-day annual election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) ended on Thursday at 5 pm.
Of the 5,080 voters of the SCBA, 4,043 cast their votes on Wednesday and Thursday to elect the 14-member new Executive Committee of the apex court bar for the 2017-18.Meanwhile, the vote counting was set to begin at 9 pm (Thursday), said AY Moshiuzzaman, convener of the election conducting subcommittee.
Awami League Law Affairs Secretary Abdul Matin Khashru vied for the post of President and SC chapter General Secretary of Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parishad Rabiul Alam Budu for the General Secretary post from Sammilita Ainjibi Samannoy Parisad (SASP) backed by Awami League-led alliance.
BNP Chairperson’s adviser M Joynul Abedin contested for the post of the President and SCBA incumbent General Secretary Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon for the post of General Secretary from Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parisad (JAOP) backed by BNP-Jamaat alliance.
