The Jahangirnagar University (JU) is going to honor a total of 54 distinguished personalities across the country marking its weeklong drama festival titled “Muktishangram Nattoutshab-2017”. The gala programmes will be held on the campus from March 25 to 31 amid festivity and fanfare.Based on the theme “Muktir Aloy Alokito Kori Bhuban”, the JU Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) is organising the grand fest to focus on the rich culture, heritage and history as well as branding culture at home and abroad.
7 out of 54 personalities will be honored posthumously while the others are expected to attend the festival and receive the honors.
Heroic freedom fighter Taramon Bibi, Bir Protik is expected to inaugurate the week-long programme by hoisting the national flag while country’s first female Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farzana Islam will chair the sessions.
The programmes will feature art camps of war liberation, tree plantation, photo and painting exhibitions, drama festival, and presentation on history, musical evening, discussions, and recitation.
Mr. Tajuddin Ahmed, the first prime minister of Bangladesh, Natyacharya Selim Al Deen, Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam, ex-JU student and actor Humayun Faridi, Eminent litterateur Syed Shamsul Haq, Eminent Chemist and JU ex-teacher Prof. Syed Shafiullah will be honored posthumously among the other distinguished personalities.
The others who will be honored are- Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, JU VC Prof. Farzana Islam, actor Mamunur Rashid, Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, former foreign minister Dr. Dipu Moni, country’s first city woman Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, eminent actress and social activist Sara Zaker, sculptor Jahanara Pervin among others.
The festival, celebrating the indomitable spirit of liberation war, will highlight all stories of courage to inspire our youth generation. The concluding ceremony of the festival will be held at Selim Al Deen Muktamanchha on March 31.
