Dhaka – A man, who was injured in a clash at Kalirchar village in Sadar upazila in Laxmipur on Friday night over offering prayer of an Imam in a local mosque, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday morning.The deceased was identified as Nur Hossain, son of Rafiq Ullah.Lokman Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that Al Amin, the imam of the ‘Mansur Ahmed Jam-e Mosque’, often used to offer khutba in favour of extremism after prayer and did not also offer prayer like other imams.The supporters of the imam Al Amin and the supporters of mosque committee locked into an altercation after Jumma prayers on Friday as the general secretary of the mosque was questioning the imam about his offering of prayer.As a sequel to the incident, the supporters of imam attacked supporters of the committee group at night.Three people including Nur Hossain and his brother Jakir Hossain were critically injured in the incident.Later, the injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Nur succumbed to his injuries around 7:00 am.Police arrested imam Al Amin, mosque committee president Ashan Ullah and its general secretary Mansur Ahmed.UNB news agency
