Two more JU students join hunger strike against case

Savar – Two more students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Sunday joined the hunger strike, raising the number to four, for withdrawal of a case lodged against 56 students of the university.On Saturday Sarder Zahid, a student of English dept 42nd-batch and Puja Biswas, a student of International relations (IR) dept, 40th-batch also accused in the case, started fast-unto-death at 2pm and 5pm at JU central Shaheed Minar.
Despite not being accused in the case, Tahmina Jahan Tuli, a student of English department 42nd-batch joined last night whereas Muntasir Arman of Law department joined on Sunday morning expressing solidarity with Zahid and Puja.
Apart from this, numerous students of the university expressed their solidarity with them demanding the withdrawal of case filed for vandalizing VC’s residence.
In the meantime, university authorities called on an emergency syndicate meeting on Sunday, confirms JU registrar Abu Bakr Siddique.
