”EU Horizon 2020: Research opportunities for BD”

Dhaka – The Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh together with the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI organised a seminar on ”EU Horizon 2020: Opportunities for Bangladesh” at the MCCI Conference Hall on Tuesday. This well-attended seminar was graced by the presence of the Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, the Minister for Science and Technology, Architect Yeafesh Osman and the Secretary, Md. Anwar Hossain, Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Bangladesh, Pierre Mayaudon and Ms. Nihad Kabir, the President of MCCI.
The seminar was intended to raise awareness amongst Bangladeshi research and business community about the Horizon 2020, a flagship research and innovation programme of the EU for the period 2014 to 2020. It is the biggest EU research and innovation programme ever making available almost €80 billion euros to fund collaborative research projects by researchers from Europe and beyond including Bangladesh. With the idea of taking great ideas from the lab to the market, the programme is inviting collaborative research from across the world on science, technology to societal challenges involving both public and private sectors.
Bringing together participants from business, academia, research institutes, think tanks and the government, the seminar discussed the key issues on Horizon 2020, its rules of participation and partnership, and the R&I funding opportunities to address global societal challenges such as agriculture, food, health, aquaculture, water, climate change and energy. – EU Del press release
