Dhaka – A court here on Wednesday sentenced a youth to life term imprisonment for killing his aunt in 2014.The court also fined the convict Tk 10,000.The convict is Nannu Shikdar, 35, son of Abdul Hai Shikdar of Noyanagar village under Ekhlaspur union in Matlab upazila.According to the prosecution, Nannu visited his aunt’s house on September 11, 2014 and demanded her Tk 20,000.As his aunt Laila Begum who used to live alone at house refused to give him the money, Nannu strangled her to death and fled the scene.Being failed to contact with Laila her children who lived in Dhaka sent their relatives to Laila’s house. They later found Laila dead.Suspecting Nannu, Laila’s children informed Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).On September 29, Rab arrested Nannu and submitted chargesheet against him on June 18, 2015.After examining records and witnesses, Chandpur District and Sessions Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed handed down the verdict.UNB news agency
