A CNG auto driver, Idris Ali was strangled to death by miscreants at
Kabirajpur village in Sadar upazila of Narsinghdi on Friday.
With this, seven people were killed in Narsinghdi in 17 days of July.
Local sources said secret killings and murder one after another have
created panic among the people of Narsinghdi. People often do not
venture to go out during the night even during this holy month of
Ramadan.
Police so far have failed to take any effective steps to check the
secret killings.
Idris Ali, son of Hafiz Uddin of Kabirajpur village of Sadar upazila,
used to maintain his livelihood by driving CNG-run auto. He used to
return home everyday around 10 pm.
On Friday (July 19), as Idris did not return home till 11 pm, family
members looked for him at various places. They announced his missing
through loud speaker later that night.
The body of Idris was found in a jute field near his house the next morning.
Earlier, on July 16, a teenager, Sultan, 16, of Madhya Shilmondi
village of Sadar upazila, was killed by dacoits who went to late Afsar
Uddin’s house for robbery.
The dacoits left Afsar’s son Sultan seriously injured when he resisted them.
Sultan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but he succumbed
to his injuries there.
On the same day (July 16), Narsinghdi Power Loom Workers Federation’s
advisor Mamun Molla died in a mysterious accident on Madanganj road
near bridge no. 5. He was the son of Aslam Mollah of Chowala Mahalla
of the district town.
On July 18, an unidentified youth, aged about 30, was killed in
Raipura. The killers tied both his hands and put tape on his mouth,
and threw him into the river.
Raipura thana police recovered his body from Fakirer Char of Meghna River.
On July 17, Raipura police recovered the body of physically
handicapped Dalim, son of Aynal Haque of Gobindapur village, from a
pond of Khanabari rail bridge area. He went missing for three days
before his body was found.
On July 16, Faisal, a student of class X of Brahmandi Govt High School
was brutally killed by his rivals at Towadi of the district town.
Earlier, on July 3, Pradip Das, a 2nd year student of Narsinghdi
Government College, was killed by miscreants. The miscreants called
him out of his house, hacked him to death and dumped the body into
Meghna River.
Besides, many serious crimes including burglary, dacoity and hijacking
are regularly taking place in the district without any effective steps
