Some 10 persons including six women were injured when an armed clash took place between two rival groups of people over catching of fish from a disputed fish farm at Ghola under Chitalmari Upazila in the district on Sunday. The injured persons were admitted to Tungipara Hospital and Chitalmari Upazila health Complex for their treatment.It is learnt from the locals that conflict has been prevailing between Minjal an Momrez Shaikh of village Ghola over the possession of landed properties for long. On the day at 3 pm some women of a group were catching fish with hooks from a disputed fish farm in the village. Being informed of the matter some people of the opposite group rushed to the spot and attacked the others and an armed clash took place between the two groups resulting in injury of 10 persons including six women of both the groups. Seriously injured persons are Fatema Begum (45). Laiju Begum (26). Salma Aktar (23), Gaus Shaikh (55), Lyton Shaikh (30) and Sabur Shaiokh (55). They were admitted to the adjacent Tungipara Hospital.On the other hand Minjal told newsmen that while the people of Momrez Shaikh were catching from the fish farm his wife and children opposed them. Then opponents attacked and physically assaulted them. As a result Sheuli Begum (40), wife of Minjal, his pregnant daughter Sufia Begum (19), Banya Aktar (14) and Al-Amin Shaikh were injujred. They were admitted to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex for their treatment.In this connection Md. Moniruzzaman Molla, Officer-in-charge of Chitalmari PS told newsmen that the situation was under control and police will go in action after receiving written complaints from the concerned persons. -Our Correspondent
