At least 35 houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at Boiragirchala in Sripur upazila on Sunday.Fire Service officials said the fire originated from a house of a colony at Boiragirchala at about 3:15pm and soon engulfed the other adjacent houses.Local people doused the blaze after one hour’s frantic efforts before the fire service unit from Gazipur reached the place of occurrence.The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately, said the officials.The house owner claimed that the extent of loss from the fire could go up to Tk 50 lakh. -UNB, Gazipur
