Dhaka- The Chattogram Customs House has seized huge cigarettes worth Tk 10 crore imported under a false declaration against the names of two non-existent entities.
The customs house opened the cigarette container at New Mooring container terminal of Chattogram Port on Sunday and found 66.94 lakh cigarettes, said its Commissioner Dr AKM Nuruzzaman.
He said they seized the cigarette consignment on April 26 and later kept it under the custody of the port authorities.Nuruzzaman said M/S N Islam Enterprise, and M/S Anwar and Company of Dhaka imported the cigarettes under a false declaration to evade duty. However, these two organisations do not exist in reality.UNB
