Dhaka – A schoolgirl was raped at Gharmul in Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat on Sunday.Locals caught the alleged rapist, Quamrul Islam, 40, a local carpenter and son of Aziz Sheikh of Gharmul, and handed him over to police.
Officer-in-charge of Fakirhat Model Police Station Jagannath Chandra said Aziz seduced the girl into going to his shop while she was going to school on Sunday morning, and violated her there.
A local woman noticed the incident and raised alarm when others rushed in and caught Aziz.
Aziz was later handed over to police, the OC said, adding that the victim’s father filed a case in this regard.UNB
