DHAKA – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will stage demonstration throughout the country on today demanding the release of 18-party leaders including top Jamaat leaders, restoration of caretaker government and protesting the “government conspiracy” to eliminate the party.Acting Jamaat Ameer Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan announced the programme through a statement on Thursday a day after the party enforced a two-day hartal across the country protesting the court verdict declaring the Jamaat registration illegal.
The Jamaat-e-Islami will also observe doa dibos (prayer day) on Friday across the country, said the statement.
The Jamaat leader accused the government of establishing a reign of terror in the country through carrying out mass arrest, killing and repression.
He said the government failed to ensure safety and security of the people and their property.
“The ruling Awami League and its associate organizations—Chhatra League, Juba League are now busy for making their fortune by extortion and tender manipulation,” he said.
Khan also alleged that the government has been hatching conspiracy to hold one-sided farcical election keeping the 18-party alliance from outside the polls.
He called upon all units of the party and the countrymen to make the programme a success. – Staff Reporter
