5 DU teachers, 37 students get Dean’s Award

A total of 37 students of different departments under the Faculty of Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) have been given ‘Dean’s Award’ for their outstanding academic results in BS (Hons) examination of 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Besides, five teachers of the faculty have received the Dean’s Award for their extraordinary contributions to original research and writing books.DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed medals and certificates among the recipients at a function held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Wednesday, said a press release.
Dean of the Faculty of Sciences Prof Dr Mohammed Abdul Aziz presided over the function while Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad and Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin spoke on the occasion.
The DU vice-chancellor urged the students to equip themselves with knowledge, moral values and non-communal spirit.He hoped that the recipients of this award would contribute to development of the country in the days to come.Teachers who received the Dean’s Award are Prof Dr Samir Kumar Bhowmik, Prof Dr M Shafiqur Rahman, Prof Dr Tamanna Howlader, Associate Professor Dr Md Anower Hossain and Assistant Professor Nabil Awan.
