A court here on Thursday convicted two brothers and sentenced them to life term
imprisonment for killing a man in 2009.
The convicts are Sagir, 25 and Bashir, 18 – two sons of Salam Faraji of Maddhotushkhali
village in Mothbaria upazila.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more
imprisonment.
According to prosecution, the two brothers hacked Mamun, 22 to death and injured his
brother Sumon, 14 over a trifling at the village on May 21, 2009.
Later Masuma Begum, mother of the victims, filed a case.
Police submitted charge sheet against four people – Sagir, Bashir and their parents –
Peyara Begum and Salam Faraji.
After examining the records and witnesses District Session Judge Biplab Kumar
Goswami handed down the verdict acquitting Peyara Begum.
