An octogenarian man was chopped to death allegedly by his three sons for land in
Monoharganj Upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Haji Abdul Karim, 85, of Kandi village of the upazila.
Local sources said the incident occurred following an altercation between Abdul Karim
and his three sons—Ohidullah, Foyezullah and Shahidullah – over a piece of land at about
5 am.
At one stage, the three sons mercilessly chopped their father with sharp weapons, killing
him on the spot. They went into hiding after the incident.
Assistant sub-inspector Safiuddin of Monoharganj Police Station said that on
information, police recovered the body and sent the same to Comilla Medical College
Hospital morgue for autopsy. -UNB, Comilla
