Pry teachers threaten indefinite strike from Sept 15

Bangladesh Primary Teachers’ Association (BPTA) on Wednesday threatened to enforce an indefinite strike from September 15 if their three-point demand is not met by September 14.   The decision came from an emergency meeting of the association held at Motijheel Government Primary School with its president Mohammad Abul Bashar in the chair.   Their demands are: upgrading the post of primary school headmaster to grade II, elevating the wage scale of assistant teachers and removing the complexities in their promotion.   BPTA general secretary Mohammad Anwarul Islam Tota, its former general secretary Siddiqur Rahman and organising secretary Ohidur Rahman were, among others, spoke at the meeting.
