No time to sit around: Khaleda tells workers on BNP’s 35th year of founding

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has asked her party leaders and activists to become active, stating that the party can’t waste any more time when the country is passing through a suffocating situation.
In a statement on the eve of BNP’s 35th founding anniversary Khaleda said, “There is a choking atmosphere in the country. We (BNP) can no longer sit around with our hands folded when the country remains in this state.”
The opposition chief directed all to ‘fully prepare’ for the ongoing campaign to restore caretaker government.
BNP’s 35th founding anniversary will be celebrated today Sep 1. BNP has taken up a  two-day long programme to mark the day.
The national and party flag will be hoisted at BNP’s Naya Paltan headquarters at dawn on today. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and others will pay tribute to BNP founder late President Ziaur Rahman at his grave in the morning.
Khaleda Zia greeted BNP’s leaders, activists and supporters on the eve of the party’s 35th founding day saying, “The country’s sovereignty is now at stake. The government is sacrificing the nation’s interests by inking various deals and through its various activities. The country is plagued with mass killings, abductions, murders, extortion, corruption and oppression.”
The ongoing campaign needs to be reinforced, the Leader of the Opposition observed.
“Our main focus now is to bring back the caretaker-government system which was abolished without taking consent.”
“So I ask all members of the party and people of Bangladesh to prepare for a full-scale movement.”
She recalled BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s contributions to the nation and said, “BNP, founded by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, has been bestowed with the power to govern the state time and again and to work for welfare and progress of the people of Bangladesh.”
Khaleda Zia said BNP will keep ‘intact’ people’s faith to play a vital role in service of the country and its people in the days ahead. – bdnews24.com
