A local Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist, who was beaten up allegedly by BNP
activists on Wednesday evening, succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital in the
capital early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Aminul Islam, 27, an activist of Bandalitola union unit
BCL and son of Matiur Rahman.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Chowgacha Police Station Gulam Rahman said a brawl
ensued between Aminul and some BNP activists at Bandalitola Bazar around 7.00pm on
Wednesday while they were taking Phensidyl syrup together.
At one stage, the BNP activists beat up him with firewood mercilessly, leaving him
critically injured.
He was admitted to Chowgacha Upazila Health Complex and then referred to Dhaka
Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated.
Later, he died on the way to the DMCH at 12:05am
The body was sent to the district hospital morgue for autopsy.
