BGB man injured by smugglers in Satkhira

A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was injured in an attack by smugglers on
Kakdanga border in Kalaroa upazila early Thursday.
BGB also arrested an alleged smuggler following the attack.
The arrestee was identified as Zahidul Islam, son of Nurul Islam of Keragachi village of
the upazila.
Major Anwarul Mazhar, operation officer of Satkhira BGB -38, said a patrol team
of BGB noticed a group of smugglers entering Bangladesh side from India with
consignments of contraband Phensidyl syrup and fruits at around 4.00am.
Challenged by BGB, the smugglers threw brick chips at the team, leaving Nayek Sebedar
Amir Ali injured.
BGB men also fired seven rounds of blank shots and arrested smuggler Zahidul along
with Phensidyl and fruits while others of his group managed to get away. -UNB, Satkhira
