A youth who was under custody of Shahjahanpur thana police died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday morning. The deceased was identified as Mithu, 30, son of late Jahir Uddin of Charsindur village in Polash upazila of Narsingdi district and a resident of capital’s Gulbagh area. DMCH sources said Shahjanpur than police found Mithu unconscious at the lockup of the police station in the morning. When they took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital doctors declared him dead. It was not clear whether he died due to torture in police custody or other reason. However, police claimed that he died of cardiac arrest. It could not be known why he had been arrested. The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. – UNB
