At least 30 people including students were injured in a clash between BCL, Chhatra Dal and Shibir activist at the Islaimc Unidersity campus on Saturday. The clash followed a brown between a Chhatra League leader and two Chhatra Dal activists over seats in the university bus.
hibir activists later joined Chhatra Dal activists in fighting the Chatra League activists.
At one point, activists of JCD and Shibir vandalised the university administration building.
Later police dispersed them by firing rubber bullets and lobbing teargas shells.
IU Police Station OC Moniruzzaman has said that the situation is now under control.
The injured were admitted to the university medical centre and Kushtia Sadar Hospital.
The condition of university staff Ziaul Haque and BCL activist ‘Shamim’ were critical.
Eyewitnesses said the argument between the JCD activists ‘Shohag’ and ‘Rony’ and BCL leader Rasel Zoarder took place in the morning at Sheikhparha Bazar.
Later, Rasel launched an attack on the JCD tent in the campus and beat them up provoking the clash.
General students said Shibir activists joined the JCD members in front of the Saddam Hall. Later, they jointly attacked and vandalised the university administration building.
