A local Jubo Dal leader was hacked to death allegedly by some Chhatra
League activists following previous enmity over occupying a house in
Parbatipur upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam, 30, president of ward
no-6 of Parbatipur upazila headquarters unit of Jubo Dal and son of
Torab Uddin of Nurnagar area of the upazila.
Quoting local people officer-in-charge of Parbatipur Police Station
Shawkat Ali said a group of BCL men, led by local BCL leader Sohel,
attacked Rabiul and chopped him with sharp weapons in Kalibari Puratan
bazar area at about 9pm, leaving him injured. Critically injured
Raibul was first rushed to Haldibari Health Complex. Later, he died on
way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Hearing the death news of Rabiul, some local BNP men swooped on the
house of BCL leader Sohel and vandalised some furniture of the house.
Sohel’s parents were also injured at that time. -UNB, Dinajpur
