School Feeding Programme reduces dropouts

Speakers at a workshop have said the School Feeding Programme (SFP)
has been reducing dropouts substantially encouraging the poorer
section of children to go to their nearby primary schools.
The programme has also been meeting nutritional deficiency of the
primary school going students side by side reducing the number of
dropouts, especially in the disaster and poverty prone backwards
areas, they said.
The Directorate of Primary Education organised the workshop on
implementation of the SFP under the management of Upazila Primary
Education Office in Gangachara Degree College auditorium on Saturday.
Officials and employees of the Primary Education Office, headmasters
of different primary schools, school management committee (SMC)
presidents, representatives of different NGOs involved with SFP
implementation and local elite participated.
Deputy project director of the SFP Rezaul Islam Chowdhury attended the
workshop as the chief guest with Gangachara Upazila Parshad chairman
and valiant freedom fighter Majibar Rahman Pramanik in the chair.

Mannan, Assistant District Primary Education Officer AM Shahjahan
Siddique, addressed as the special guests.  Gangachara Upazila Primary
Education Officer Mostafizur Rahman, principal of Gangachara Degree
College Professor Jamilur Rahman and upazila manager of Eco Social
Development Organisation (ESDO) Ataur Rahman also spoke. -BSS, Rangpur
