Nat’l oil, gas committee starts 5-day long march to Rampal Today

National Committee to Protect Oil Gas Mineral Resources Power and Ports starts its five-day long march on Tuesday from the National Press Club towards Rampal Power Plant site in Bagerhat.   The marchers, in a motorcade of hundreds of buses and microbuses, will reach Rampal on September 28 where it will end through holding a mass rally in protest against the power plant project.   The committee announced the programme recently last demanding cancellation of project being jointly implemented by Bangladesh and India at a site very close to the world heritage Sundarbans mangrove forest.   Committee leader Ruhin Hossain Prince told UNB that the long mach will start on Tuesday at 10 am after a brief rally in front of the National Press Club.   The marchers will reach Manikganj and stay overnight and reach Faridpur on September 25, Jessore on September 26 and Khulna on 27 and Rampal on 28.   Enroute to Rampal, the organizers will hold meetings at different places in different districts. –UNB
