Opposition BNP on Monday denounced the chargesheets against five Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) men, including its president and general secretary, in a case filed for hurling crude bombs at the house of Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu.
In a statement, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir termed the charges against the JCD men false, fabricated and motivated and urged the government to withdraw the case.
“Stop brutal repression and suppression, or else, as per the rule of the history get ready for counter-attack for very attack,” the BNP spokesman warned the government. On Sunday, Detective Branch (DB) of police pressed charges against the five people, including JCD president Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel and general secretary Habibur Rashid Habib, in the bomb attack case at the house of the Information this year.
According to the chargesheet, the accused deliberately caused explosions in Inu’s house to create fear, panic and destroy lives and property. Protesting the move, Fakhrul said the government is staging the different drama’s based on cooked-up stories targeting the opposition leaders and activists to hush up its abject failures.
Mentioning that the government is on the spree of a foul play, he said the submission of chargesheets against the JCD leaders and activists is part of it. He also alleged that the false case against JCD men the and placing charges are aimed at impeding the involvement of youths in the upcoming harsher movement to be waged by the opposition against the government’s misrule and force it to restore the non-party caretaker government system in the constitution to oversee the next polls.
On June 9, unidentified miscreants hurled four-five crude bombs at the residence of the Information Minister at Darus Salam Road in Mirpur area. – UNB
