A Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activist has been shot dead at Sonaimuri Upazila in Noakhali.
Md Parvej, a student of the Amishaparah Alia Madrassa, was first hacked and then shot to death by local youths at Amishaparah on
Thursday, witnesses said.
Parvej, son of Jahangir Alam, was a Dakhil examinee this year.
Two other activists of the BNP-affiliate student organisation – Rashed, 22, and Raju, 19 – were injured in the attack.
They were treated at the Sonaimuri-Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex and Noakhali Medical College-cum-Hospital.
A Sonaimuri inhabitant, Nur Alam, said some students, including Parvez, had been attacked while returning home.
Parvez died on the spot, he said.
Sonaimuri Police Station’s OC Abdus Samad confirmed the murder and said the body had been kept at the Chatkhil Hospital morgue.
The situation was under control, he said.
